👋 Hey there!
🚅 This is issue #49 of the Double E Bullet where I share two action-packed bullets to help you go from full-time founder to part-time CEO.
Let’s talk about time! Time often slips through our fingers unnoticed—a truth I, like countless other founders, have come to realize. We crave this harmonious blend of productivity & purpose to give us an amaaazing work-life balance, holding onto the hope that one day, this ideal balance will appear magically. Yet, as full-time founders, we take our time lightly and more often than not, for granted as a result of which we keep chasing that balance endlessly.
This is why I wanted to talk about a concept that has transformed my idea of time as an entrepreneur and has helped me automate so much of my business operations.
⏰ 🧠 Transitioning from a full-time founder to a Part-Time CEO starts with taking back control of our time. The Entrepreneurial Time System introduced by Dan Sullivan is an amazing framework based on the idea of breaking down your weeks into themes. Here’s how it works
Focus Week: Amplify Your Impact The Focus Week is your dedicated time to zero in on high-value, mission-critical tasks. This is when you immerse yourself in revenue-generating activities, strategic planning, and key projects that propel your business forward. By channeling your energy into what truly matters, you unlock unprecedented levels of productivity and progress, inching closer to your goal of becoming a thriving part-time CEO.
Buffer Week: Transition with Precision A bridge between your Focus Week and well-deserved Free Day – the Buffer Week serves as a preparation zone. It’s where you wrap up loose ends from your Focus Week, fine-tune your strategies, and handle administrative tasks. This intentional transition not only sets the stage for a smooth Focus Week ahead but also ensures you’re primed for a rejuvenating Free Day.
Free Day: Nurture Your Well-being The Free Day is a sanctuary for your well-being. Step away from work, reconnect with your passions, and relish in the activities that fill your soul. By embracing this day of rest and rejuvenation, you create a crucial counterbalance to the intensity of your Focus Week. A well-nurtured mind and spirit fuel the innovation and clarity needed to steer your business with finesse.
As you strive to become a part-time CEO, integrating the Focus Week, Buffer Week, and Free Day framework into your routine can be a game-changer. This structured approach empowers you to harness your time, multiply your impact, and cultivate a healthier work-life dynamic.
Another nugget of gold from Dan Sullivan is this YouTube video. It’s less than 3 minutes but was instrumental in helping me realize the importance of the Entrepreneurial Time System and the idea of creating slack in my calendar. I used to love packing my calendar with ‘important’ meetings not realizing how much that was costing me.
I’d love for you to watch this video and explore the possibility of creating some free time in your calendar just like I have.
🧨 DHIREN’S UPDATES 🧨
Speaking of the power of taking time off, I want to share a personal story. August is my designated “month off.” It’s a time when I step away from the daily hustle to recharge, explore new experiences, and reconnect with my passions. This annual tradition has taught me the immense value of disconnecting from the grind and embracing a well-deserved break. During my month off, I’ve gained fresh perspectives, rekindled my creativity, and returned to work with renewed energy. This practice not only rejuvenates me but also enhances my effectiveness as an entrepreneur.
7 years ago, this seemed like a dream much like other founders. Today, this seems like something I can’t function without. I hope my story will inspire you to embark on your journey to become a part-time CEO & remember that carving out time for yourself is not a luxury – it’s a necessity. Taking dedicated breaks, like my August month off, can be a pivotal catalyst for your growth.
So, whether it’s a week, a day, or even a few hours, make it a habit to unplug and recharge. Your business, your well-being, and your journey to becoming a Part-Time CEO will thank you.
That’s all for this edition! What was your favorite bullet?
