👋 Hey there!
🚅 This is issue #38 of The Double E Bullet where I share two action-packed bullets to help you elevate your entrepreneurial journey and take you from founder to fearless leader.
🎊 Creating a fun and productive work environment 🎊
“All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”. ~Proverb
For solopreneurs and freelancers, nothing could be truer. Entrepreneurship can be a lonely world, and even more so if you’re running your business online.
This reason is why it is very important to promote a fun and productive work environment, whether you are in an office-based, remote, or hybrid setting. It will inspire your team to do better and obtain quality results but you also achieve business goals much more easily.
So how do you turn boring and exhausting workdays into fun and productive ones? Here are some of the tried-and-tested ways I’ve done that as a CEO for my businesses. Of course, I also got help and guidance from my team:
1. Team Interaction
Teams are made up of different personality types: introverts, extroverts, ambiverts… so you need to allow each of your team members to shine in their unique ways.
For example, at Cloudscape, we host Wacky Wednesdays every two weeks via Zoom, where the only rule is no work talk and everything else goes.
2. The Power of Positivity
Positive thinking is a great way to turn a frown upside down.
Even something as simple as sharing a meme or a funny GIF with your team or organizing team breakfasts can really go a long way.
We also have a Slack channel called Share Your Wins where we can share and celebrate a win whether it’s from work or from one’s personal life and then everybody jumps in to cheer them on.
3. Break Time
Break times are essential to keeping productivity high at work; even machines and robots break down if they’ve been working too long.
At Cloudscape, we set up team game sessions every month via Zoom. If you are looking for multiplayer games, check out Plato and Among Us. Don’t forget to bring along the snacks!
👨🏽🚀 Among Us 👨🏽🚀
Since we’re on the topic of fun and multiplayer games…
Among Us was created back in 2018 but it wasn’t until mid-2020 when it had a surge in popularity. The pandemic found many people seeking a way to socialize with others while still following social distancing protocols, and the game made this possible.
In a nutshell, Among Us is a party game of teamwork and betrayal, where crew mates would work together to complete tasks. Up to three Impostors are secretly chosen each round and the tasks have to be completed before these Impostors can kill everyone on board.
Why am I suggesting this? Among Us is a great game to play during team building exercises or team meetups. It will break the ice and lighten the energy in the room.
🧨 DHIREN’S UPDATES 🧨
Team meetings are boring and long and exhausting, and in some cases, pointless.
However, if you truly can’t stay away from having to conduct team meetings, here’s the ultimate team meeting agenda that is designed to boost your team’s productivity. After all, we want to keep everyone happy and eager to work!
