๐Ÿš… Double E Bullet โ€” May 4 2023

๐Ÿ‘‹ Hey there!

๐Ÿš… This is issue #35 ofย The Double E Bulletย where I share two action-packed bullets to help you elevate your entrepreneurial journey andย take you fromย founderย toย fearless leader.

โ€‹๐Ÿ“– Book Recommendation: Atomic Habits by James Clear ๐Ÿ“–

I recommend this book to anyone that wants to cut out bad work and personal habits and replace that with a productive routine.

In a nutshell, James suggests to pick out one productive habit or task in your routine and practice it regularly. Stick to this practice for the next couple of weeks or months and watch as you grow exponentially.

Itโ€™s easier said than done but, according to James, itโ€™s all because we have the wrong system to invite change. He clearly explains this in his book (he used physical health and psychology and applied it in his own life) but Iโ€™ll spare you the details to encourage you to pick up the book and read it.

Beyond the book, I especially love Jamesโ€™s journey of building his audience through habit: he wrote every day Monday to Thursday, and produced eight articles each month, without fail. While he had some experience attracting readers and converting them into subscribers, being able to sustain this for years is a major feat and something you can emulate in your business today.

I highly suggest you join his newsletter, which he sends out to over 2 million people (including me) every Thursday.

๐Ÿ“œ Article: Finding Your Purpose ๐Ÿ“œโ€‹

I wanted to share with you a really good article I came across recently. In it, the author talks about how to find your niche, which is contrary to the typical advice that we get: we donโ€™t find a niche; weโ€™re supposed to choose it.

But why even choose a niche? Because if we try to be all things to all people, we end up being nothing to anyone.

In the book I shared above, James Clear shares his background: he was an athlete, played baseball when he was younger, and even got into weightlifting later on. He also studied sciences such as chemistry, physics, and biology. In graduate school, he got into venture capital investment which eventually led him to study consumer psychology.

However, even with the different niches and disciplines he was exposed to, James Clear was somehow able to marry everything he loved and create something out of it. Beyond choosing a niche (unique positioning), the article suggested that we look into finding our purpose (valuable outcome) just like James did.

If you havenโ€™t figured out what your niche or purpose is, go and read the four questions that will help you develop a strong purpose right inside the article.

The article also gave two more important pieces of advice:

  1. Align your purpose with your experience.
  2. Be aspirational.

James Clear mastered and applied these in his work. He chose to write about behavioral psychology and habit formation because he had the language, the research, as well as the experience to talk about it extensively.

So my advice to you: specialize in a field that you love. Once you specialize, you align your purpose with your experience. This is how you impact your audience and, as they say, everything else will follow.

Weโ€™ve since closed enrollment to my 5-week online course, The Entrepreneur Basecamp, where I teach and help freelancers, solopreneurs and business owners elevate themselves into fearless founders. Now, the habit formation, self-development, and transformation begins.
